I’m just a small-town kid with the a passion for the outdoors.

Growing up in a small town made it easy to fall in love with the outdoors. Whether I was on my way home from school or out for a drive after the evening chores were done I always made time for pheasant hunting growing up. Early morning trips to the river packing a cold sandwich and sitting on the rocks at Dock 44 took up a lot of my time learning how to fish with my dad. It wasn’t until Jr. High I learned about goose hunting from my late uncle Dale. There is just something about tricking a giant bird like that and hearing the wind whistle through its wings that just gets my adrenaline pumping.

I moved to the Sioux Falls area in 2004 and let my love for the outdoors falter. With the encouragement from a few of my buddies to join them on a hunt let me pick up right where I left off and re-lit that fire that was smoldering inside me.

The passion to be in the outdoors has driven me to volunteer with KKIDS and Wild Dakota. Seeing the excitement on the faces of the youth in our area takes me back to when I was their age. It reminds me of how I felt when I caught my first fish or downed my first bird. To be able to light that fire in our future and show them the proper way to take care of the harvest is investing in the conservation of our great state.

I met my wife in 2014, we were married in October of 2015, and have been blessed with two handsome healthy boys. I look forward to going on many hunting and fishing trips to show them how to take care of out great outdoors to pass it on to their kids. If you see me out and about say hello and let’s trade a few hunting stories. Until then may your sights be straight, and your aim be true! See you in the fields and sloughs of South Dakota.
