Hi everyone my name is Joel Kunkel. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be a part of the Wild Dakota team. Hunting with Jeff and Vern has been a blast. It’s not as easy as it looks though. It makes it a challenge when you add a camera to the mix. But hey; I’m up for the challenge. Hunting has always been a big part of my life. For as long as I can remember; I have always loved to hunt and fish. This is probably a trait handed down to me by my father. He always found time to take me with him hunting as a youngster. It must run in the blood; because I have a son and daughter that flat out love to go hunting and fishing with me. I probably got spoiled as a teenager in the fact that we lived on a farm near Mitchell SD. Some of the best pheasant hunting I can remember was right out our front door. As a kid I always looked forward to deer hunting with my father. Getting up at 4:30 in the morning had a whole new meaning when I was crawling into the truck and hoping my dad would put a big o deer on the ground. Now some 20 years later here I am in the same boat as my father. With two great kids; I am looking forward to sharing the same experience with them as my father had with me.

When asked; what is the animal I love to hunt the most; I don’t know if I can even answer. Just recently my cousin Jason brought me with him and showed me how to call in coyotes; what a rush. On the other hand I find it hard to beat a good pheasant hunt with friends and my hunting dog. I am always looking forward to hunting new and exciting game. I am also excited to start hunting with a bow this year. This is going to be a new experience that I am stoked to try out. I don’t think it matters too much what I am hunting; as long as I am outdoors. This is something all of us at Wild Dakota have in common. I am thankful to have an understanding wife when it comes to hunting. I am sure she finds it easer to tell me to go hunting on the weekends instead of sitting around the house bugging her. Maybe I bug her or she don’t care; either way I thank her. At this time; I would also like to thank Jeff and Vern for the opportunity they have given me. It has been a riot; and I am certainly looking forward to working with them in the future. Hope everyone is enjoying the show.
